The hostel is one of a dozen which has sprung up over the last 20 years. In line with eco-friendly practices, the owners of the hostels have built everything primarily from wood. Kadir\'s bungalows and tree houses were minimalist and clean, decorated with Anatolian antiques collected over the years Kadir\'s Tree Houses, one of the first ecotourism hostels that helped put the southern ancient city of Olympos on the tourist map and made it popular among Turks as well as foreign backpackers, lie in ashes. On Wednesday afternoon at around 3:30 p.m., an explosion occurred in one of the wooden houses and spread to the surrounding 100 houses burning most of them in over an hour. The surrounding towns within a 40 kilometer radius sent seven water tanks to help contain and put out the fire, while hostel staff and construction workers who had just built a new row of houses on the compound helped with hoses from the local water reserves. The cause of the fire was still not clear, but staff guessed that an electrical spark had ignited the initial explosion.
